Today would have been my grandfather, Orville Nix’s birthday. I miss him terribly as do all my family. I wish he could have met his awesome great- grandchildren and great-great grandson. I wish he could have seen how much technology has advanced since his time. He always loved the newest “techno” things including cameras, telephones, airplanes, and televisions.
Another part of me is glad he isn’t here to see how the loss of his film isn’t of great importance to many. I’m happy that he isn’t around to see how people have accused him of being part of the assassination….of being stupid in his usage of film that day…of not hiring a team of attorneys to protect his film. I’m glad he’s not around to see how his film was neglected.
I’m proud of my grandfather. I’m happy that he believed in his government enough to help in any way he could. He was trusting. He believed in America and in his government.
Unfortunately, save for a few noble people, his beliefs were not reciprocal.
Happy Birthday Paw-Paw. I will not quit searching for your film. I love you!
