Josiah Thompson Agrees with Orville Nix: Shots Killing JFK Came from the Stockade Fence

Until he died, Orville Nix proclaimed shots came “from the stockade fence” in the killing of JFK. 50 years later, Josiah Thompson, author of the seminal book Six Seconds in Dallas published in 1967, concurs that Nix was right.

Thompson’s new book, Last Second in Dallas, comes to a startling conclusion about Lee Harvey Oswald, who was arrested for shooting the president from the 6th floor of the Texas School Book Depository in Dallas. Thompson states, ”Whatever Lee Harvey Oswald did or did not do on that Friday 50 years ago; he did not kill John Kennedy.”

How does he come to this conclusion? By studying the Zapruder film, re-reading the HSCA reports and buying a Mannlicher-Carcano for his own use. He reminds the reader that pieces of the president’s skull were recovered from the street and the grass on the far side of the limo. All of these parts convince Thompson that the fatal shot came from a second gunman: “It was fired from the right front from 12 feet west of the corner of the stockade fence, a very, very exact location.”

His book, Last Second in Dallas, to be published sometime this year, should confirm what my book, Orville Nix: The Missing JFK Assassination Film shares regarding Orville Nix’s experiences in taking the film that day. They both agree- shots came from the stockade fence.
